Origins of PCBs found in food, feed and biota, including the human body

'Origins of PCBs found in food, feed and biota, including the human body' is a tentative item on the programme for the Sixth International PCB Workshop in 2010.

The EU has set maximum limits for PCB levels in some foodstuffs. In the central Baltic Proper, PCB concentrations in fatty fish often exceed the limits for commercial sale. PCBs in fish from the Baltic and other contaminated fishing areas are therefore likely to attract close attention.

We also welcome presentations and discussions on PCBs in non-fish food and in other biota. We plan to hold a special session, with the backing of the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA), focusing on human exposure to dioxin-like and non-dioxin-like PCBs via food.
