To be able to improve our environment we need to have ready sources of information about it. The statistics produced and published by the Swedish EPA are freely available for use in environmental research and for planning needs in Sweden and internationally.

    • Air pollutants

In compliance with the Convention on Long Range Transboundary Air Pollution (CLRTAP) and the directive on national emission ceilings (2001/81/EG), Sweden renders annual reports of its emissions of air pollutants.

    • Water pollutants

Emissions of polluting substances to water have affected Swedish inland waters and surrounding seas. They have given rise to eutrophication and elevated levels of organic contaminants and some heavy metals.

    • Hazardous substances

There are many clients and consumers of statistics on hazardous substances, the most important being the Swedish Government and Riksdag, the European Commission and the UN.
