Letter of Interest
Here you can find information about the procedure associated with our Call for Research Proposals and how to write a Letter of Interest.
At the start of a research programme we invite researchers to submit a letter of interest in running the programme. Our Call for Research Proposals states the aim of the research, how the results are intended for use by the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency, and the size of the research grant.
There are three parts of the Letter of Interest:
- Application form
- Programme outline
- CV(s)
You submit your Letter of Interest via the Application Portal. If you are new to the Application Portal, begin by filling in your personal details as a “new user”. Then click on “new application” and select the call for the programme for which you wish to apply.

Complete the application form in Swedish. Indicate only the planning grant for which you are applying (max. SEK 150,000). A preliminary budget for the programme is accounted for only in the programme outline. Write a summary in Swedish and English (limited to max. 2000 characters, including spaces)
Programme outline (English)
The programme outline is headed by the name of the proposed programme and the applicant’s contact information. It is to include:
- Aim and issues
- Presentation of the problem
- Relationship to ongoing and previous research in the field
- Theoretical framework
- Brief description of methods
- Practical relevance of the research results for the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency and other stakeholders
- Preliminary plan for programme execution: organisation, collaborators, communication, time plan, and budget.
The programme outline should be no longer than eight A4 pages. The texts are to be written in a font size that is equivalent to 12-point Times New Roman. The programme outline is attached in a pdf file format.
CV (English)
A CV is submitted for the applicant as well as for any other persons who are expected to have a key role in the programme. A CV should be no more than two pages per person in a font size equivalent to 12-point Times New Roman and is attached as a pdf file.
