Application Prerequisites
We fund research that is intended to encourage a holistic approach and to provide a multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary perspective in the field of environmental research.
If a research programme is to yield added value as compared with independent projects, it is important that the various elements of the programme be integrated and that all participants work towards a common goal.
As a research funding body, we strive to achieve greater equality between men and women. All programmes must seek to achieve an even balance between the sexes. A more multi-faced view of environmental problems and their implications can also be obtained if account is taken of the values, perspectives and experience of women as well as men.
All research institutes administering funds received from us must be able to demonstrate that they are actively pursuing an environmental management programme.
Note that our role as a funding body is to fund research that supports our efforts in relation to the environmental quality objectives, the Environmental Code and international negotiations, among other things. Hence, the Swedish EPA is not a general research funding body. Nor is it the EPA's prime task to support further education.
